SBTS Adds Will Bishop to Bible Worship Department
SBTS has named Will Bishop Associate Professor of Church and Worship Music. The bishop brings
local church ministry experience and advanced theological training at Southern’s
Bible Worship Department.
“I love the program at Southern which is designed to equip students with musical,
theological and ministerial needs of churches today. said the bishop. “I have local training
ministry of the church, and my passion is to prepare students for a life of faithful and fruitful
service to our churches.
Bishop has been an assistant professor of worship leadership at Mississippi College for
2017. He is currently the Acting Worship Pastor at Parkway Baptist Church in Clinton,
Mississippi. Bishop also earned his Doctor of Musical Arts from New Orleans Baptist Theological
Seminar in 2015.
One of the main reasons he decided to join the Southern mission is his respect for the SBTS faculty.

“I admire the faculty at Southern.” said the bishop. “I love that the professors here are both academics
and active leaders in local churches. I believe it is essential that our students receive instruction from professors
who model the faithful ministry of the gospel by serving in their churches.
Churches need theologically rich worship ministries, and Southern is committed to training their
leaders. Hiring a bishop is a good step to ensure that worship leaders who train at Southern
receive instruction of the highest quality in musical, theological and ministerial needs.
SBTS Provost Paul Akin is thrilled to have Bishop take on this new role.

The bishops will move to Louisville. Bishop, his wife Jamie and four children; Caroline, Jackson, Carter and Julianne.
