Pinellas County Church ransacked after burglary, arrest made

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) – A church in Pinellas County is destroyed, after the pastor said a man broke and ransacked it. It happened at the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Missionary Church this weekend.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office arrested Charles Brooks for the crime.

“No one in their right mind would do that,” said Pastor Robert Greene. “He had stuff from my office, here everything was on the front lawn.”

The real nightmare was inside. “Man is possessed,” Greene said. He told 8 On Your Side that there was ash and burns on the chairs, paint and ice cream on the carpet, and urine on the floor.

Pastor Greene says Brooks, 62, told MPs he stayed in the church for two days. “Everything here is brand new. We just returned to the building on November 7th.

Although this is a very devastating situation, Greene said they were still grateful.

“We have been through storms. We have walked through the termites. We went through the mold and now we are living it. It’s another storm and it will pass soon, ”said Pastor Greene.

He believes the damage could cost them close to $ 20,000. Brooks is charged with burglary of an unoccupied structure.
