North Liberty Baptist Church gets new steeple

NORTH LIBERTY, Iowa (KCRG) – There was a special delivery to the North Liberty Baptist Church on Monday morning. After almost a year of waiting, the parts for the new church tower have arrived.

The church celebrated its 10th anniversary in April 2021, and that’s when the steeple was commissioned to mark the occasion.

According to Pastor Thomas Gibson, the bell tower is also a way of thanking the community for the growth the church has experienced over the past decade: “We started in a storefront, a small office space right next door from here, a small space of 20×25. Just my family moved here, we didn’t have a team. We quickly realized how great this community was and at first we didn’t have much to offer. We didn’t have a building, we didn’t have a steeple, we didn’t have all the classrooms.

Pastor Thomas said a steeple can turn a church into a landmark, but North Liberty Baptist’s is more a symbol of hope, growth and gratitude. “My main message in the steeple is to say ‘thank you.’

While parts of the steeple arrived today, the North Liberty skyline won’t quite change just yet. The workers are waiting for the right weather conditions to install it on the roof of the church.

There will be a dedication on Sunday February 13 at 10:30 a.m.
