David Dykes appointed Acting Senior Pastor of Mobberly Baptist Church in East Texas



LONGVIEW, Texas (KLTV) – On Sunday, the Mobberly Baptist Church held a church business meeting to vote to affirm Dr. David Dykes as acting senior pastor. With over 750 members present between the Longview and Marshall campuses, the members voted unanimously for Dykes.

Dr Dykes has preached since 1970 and led churches in Alabama before becoming a pastor of Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler in 1991. After serving as senior pastor of Green Acres Baptist Church for over 30 years, Dykes took on his retirement in August 2021. He is Pastor Emeritus of Green Acres.

In a letter to church members, Dykes wrote: “I am committed to loving you, to leading you, and to faithfully preaching the Word of God to you until Jesus returns or until God brings you. your next senior pastor. God has already chosen him, and in His perfect timing, he will come. Until then, God wants to prepare the church and the next pastor for this wonderful day.

Dykes took up his official duties as acting senior pastor on Monday. The Pastor Search Committee continues to search for Mobberly’s next senior pastor.
