Crossroads Baptist Church in Elizabethtown began as a satellite campus of Franklin Crossroads Baptist Church in Cecilia before becoming a stand-alone church on December 4, 2011.
Randy Pettus, executive pastor of Crossroads Baptist Church, said they believe this is what they need to do in their vision to reach Elizabethtown.
Ten years later, the church has grown from around 70 members to over 300 and has plans for a new building to be built in 2023 on the 19 acres it owns on St. John Road.
Dr. Rob Sumrall, the founding pastor and current Senior Teaching Pastor at Crossroads, described the successes of the church’s first decade.
“Our history has been a witness to God’s faithfulness. He provided for all the needs. He has saved sinners, restored marriages and given strength to weary people, ”Sumrall said in a statement. “While we want to be careful to celebrate what God has done for the first 10 years at Crossroads, I am even more excited to see what God will do in the future. “
The church will celebrate its 10th anniversary on Sunday with Dr. R. Albert Mohler, president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, as a guest speaker. Mohler is also president of the Evangelical Theological Society, hosts two highly regarded podcasts, and is a bestselling author and sought-after speaker.
Services will begin at 10:30 am at 401 W. Poplar St., Elizabethtown. The public is invited. This is the third time Mohler has visited Crossroads. Pettus encouraged residents to arrive early.
“When Dr Mohler came here before, we filled up pretty quickly,” he said.
The vision of Crossroads Baptist Church is “to love God, to love others and to serve the world”. The church has mission partners in Croatia, Scotland, and Oakland, California. Locally, they support and work with Mission Hope for Kids and Clarity Solutions.
